Mooroolbark Signal Box Artwork

‘Tis the year for my foray into public art. Following on from the trail of Sugar Gliders, I’ve now completed painting a signal box as part of the Mooroolbark Street Art Project.

With the theme ‘Bringing wildlife back to Mooroolbark’, my artwork depicts threatened bird species of the Yarra Ranges, along with representations (I’m not a botanical artist by any stretch of the imagination) of local indigenous flora.

This particular project was proudly funded by Yarra Ranges Council.. The Mooroolbark Street Art Project is a Mooroolbark Traders & Community Group Inc. initiative produced in partnership with Yarra Art Rangers Network and supported by Pick My Project, Victorian State Government.

NEW PRODUCT: MEMORY & SNAP CARDS

Australian Wildlife MEMORY & SNAP CARDS

These cards can also be used as Flashcards or for playing any game that involves pairs, like Snap.

40 cards (20 matched pairs) each featuring one of my illustrations, the name of the animal and a fun fact.
Printed locally in Melbourne on recycled card, matt laminated for protection from little (and big) hands and packed in a handy pocket-sized / handbag sized box.

Size of cards: 54mm x 85mm with rounded corners
Size of box: 60mm x 92mm x 22mm

Instructions for Memory Matching game:
Shuffle the deck of cards.
Lay the cards face down in a grid.
The first player turns two cards face up.
If the two cards match, the player keeps the pair and gets another turn.
If they do not match, the cards are turned face down, and it’s the next player’s turn.
Keep playing until there are no cards left on the table. The player with the most pairs wins.

Tip for younger players: halve the number of pairs for a smaller game.

Donations for Aussie Wildlife

Big THANK YOU to my customers for making this possible…

Each financial year I give a portion of my sales to not-for-profit organisations that work to protect Australian wildlife. From sales of my calendars, greeting cards and this year a few little paintings, I’ve either donated to appeals, or joined in membership, and though it’s not much money in the grand scheme of things, it is heartening to know that my artwork can generate a few extra dollars to help the Aussie wildlife I love to portray and share. There are so many awesome groups, foundations, individuals, societies and organisations that it’s often hard to know who to focus on, and each year I give to a few different places. They all do fantastic work for Australian wildlife either directly through research and rescues or indirectly through habitat protection. The main recipients this year have been (in no particular order) …

Birdlife Australia

Bush Heritage Australia

Zoos Victoria

Friend’s of the Leadbeater’s Possum

Wildlife Victoria

Save the Bilby Fund

Australian Conservation Foundation

Australian Wildlife Society

Mooroolbark Street Art Project

This year I’ve been lucky enough to see my dream of doing some public art come to fruition, with a series of six Sugar Glider paintings in Hookey Park. These launch the Mooroolbark small artworks trail and have been a fun challenge to organise and deliver.

#Mooroolbarkstreetart is funded by #Pickmyproject and supported by the Mooroolbark Traders Association, Yarra Ranges Council and coordinated by Art Rangers Network.

20% of sale of GREETING CARDS will be donated to Australian Wildlife charities

20% of sale of GREETING CARDS will be donated to Australian Wildlife charities at end of financial year.
